Why curved stairlifts cost more
A straight stairlift runs on a standard rail cut to the length of your flight. A curved stairlift needs a rail built specifically for your staircase — every bend, winder and half-landing measured and manufactured to match. That bespoke rail is the cost difference, which is why curved starts at £2,995 rather than £1,995.
If your stairs have even one turn at the top or bottom, you're in curved territory. A survey settles it in minutes.
What VAT actually costs you
Most stairlift buyers never pay the standard 20% VAT. If you're chronically sick or disabled you pay 0%. If you're aged 60 or over — whatever your health — you pay a reduced 5%, as long as the stairlift is supplied and installed by the same company, which is how every stairlift on this site is fitted.
Eligibility is confirmed with a short written declaration at quote stage. A family member or carer can sign it on your behalf.
